Jaime Correia de Sousa is a Family Physician in North Portugal, at Horizonte Family Health Unit in Matosinhos Health Centre, and is a Professor in the Community Health Department at the School of Health Sciences in the University of Minho since 2001. His diverse research interests cover the management of chronic respiratory diseases, namely asthma, and the promotion of quality of life of these patients. He is also an active member of the International Primary Care Respiratory Group and one of the Course Directors of the International EURACT Bled Course from the very beginning. He is the head of the Portuguese Delegation to the UEMO (European Union of General Practitioners / Family Physicians). He was the Chief-editor of the Portuguese Journal of General Practice between 2005 and 2008.
